Checking the completion status of an action

When you send an action to a device there are two ways to check the status of the action. You can check the tenant’s Action History or you can check the device’s Action History.

Section 1: Checking the Tenant’s Action History

    • In Manger, go to the Devices tab

    • Perform an action, such as sending an Action, sending an iOS Profile, sending an app, deleting an app or deleting an iOS Profile
    • Click on the View Logs button in the pop-up that displays after an action is sent, or …

    • Click on the Action History button

    • The progress indicator next to the Action name will continue to spin until the action succeeds or after 20 minutes without success

  • You can jump directly to the device(s) by clicking on number underneath the Success, Pending or Errors category header

Section 2: Checking the Device’s Action History

          • In Manager, go to the Devices tab

        • Perform an action, such as sending an Action, sending an iOS Profile, sending an app, deleting an app or deleting an iOS Profile
        • Click on the Action History box on the line for the device you sent the action to
        • Click on the Action name, this extend the details

          Look at the Status

  • Red text means an error occurred, the reason for the error will be listed
  • Message Sent means Manager sent the action but the device has not responded, it could be turned off or offline
  • Completed means the device received the command successfully. The device does not send back what it does with that command, meaning if it gets the action to install and there is an error in downloading the app, Manager will still show Completed because the device received the command successfully. It is a system limitation that we are not able to receive information beyond successfully delivery of the message from the device.
