Moki Cares
Moki moved its headquarters to San Antonio, TX in June 2018, after being purchased by the San Antonio based Dura Software. We are now a proud member of the San Antonio community and investing in our community is important to us. “At Moki, caring and being of service to others is at the heart of our culture and who we are here. We are fortunate to call San Antonio home and we want to be active participants in our community. Our team came together with a desire and a commitment to dedicate time and resources every month to the San Antonio community. As a result, Moki Cares was born. We have had great experiences coming together as a team and serving others,” explains Moki’s CEO, Adam Maher. With the launch of Moki Cares, starting in July, Moki began organizing monthly charitable opportunities for its employees to participate in.
Ronald McDonald House Charities in San Antonio
Last month we had the pleasure of working with the Ronald McDonald House Charities in San Antonio. Moki employees were able to provide a home-cooked meal to those families staying at the Ronald McDonald House.
Why it is Needed
Children who are diagnosed with serious illnesses often live far from the hospital. This can add to an already stressful time for the children, their parents, and families. As parents strive to be with their sick child at the hospital, it may require them to be away from home for extended periods of time. Without the Ronald McDonald house, lodging options are typically expensive hotel rooms or hospital cots. The Ronald McDonald House not only provides needed lodging close to the hospital, but also provides a place where parents can share experiences and fears with a mutual support system of others in similar situations.
Haven for Hope
This month we were grateful for the opportunity to volunteer time and resources to Haven for Hope. Moki employees put together Snack Kits and delivered them to Haven for Hope to be distributed, as needed.
What is Haven for Hope
Haven for Hope consists of two major programs, both aimed at providing hope and new beginnings for those experiencing homelessness in Bexar County. These two programs are, the Courtyard and the Transformational Campus. The Courtyard is a safe outdoor sleeping area. Guests at the Courtyard also can receive, meals, showers, laundry, basic medical and mental health care, and other basic services. The Transformational Campus provides a place for individuals and families experiencing homelessness to receive assistance with housing, education, counseling, and support to help address the root cause of homelessness. Their goal is to help individuals and families to achieve permanent housing.
