MokiMobility CEO Tom Karren recently joined Ben Carsley from PYMNTS.com to discuss the new PCI SSC guidelines for mPOS on a PYMNTS.com podcast. In the podcast Tom talks about what the new guidelines mean for mPOS developers, solutions providers and merchants. The guidelines clearly outline the need to secure the whole environment running the mPOS app, not just securing the app itself. Tom walks Ben through how just one item in the guidelines, “Indication of a secure state”, is really just the tip of the iceberg. mPOS solutions require a holistic view of everything running on the device, where the device is physically located, which network is it connected to, what version of the OS, the version of the app, the peripherals, etc. are all indicators that drive whether the device is currently secure.
